At Forrest Out of School Hours Care, we prioritise children’s health and wellbeing by implementing policies and practices which are informed by trusted health authorities. Our children are empowered in developing responsibility for their own health and physical wellbeing with the support of Educators. We as Educators, model and reinforce lifestyle choices and wellbeing that fosters healthy lifestyles . Through everyday routines, intentional experiences, and meaningful collaborative discussions, the children engage in learning about health, safety, and self-care. The children play a vital role in shaping and maintaining a safe, inclusive environment for everyone at Fooshc . For example, each day the children take responsibility for measuring the daily UV rating and sharing it with everyone , this empowers them to make informed decisions about sun protection, such as wearing hats, applying sunscreen, and seeking shade. With this approach, it aligns beautifully with the our learning Framework –My Time, Our Place V2 by promoting children’s agency, fostering their sense of identity and wellbeing, and encouraging active citizenship within their community.
